A Note From Our President

Dear Sewing Sisters,

My first ever Presidential address, oh my!

It seems like we always have to unbury the sewing room every January after Christmas. I finally got all the miscellaneous stuff like wrapping paper and canning jars that migrated into my sewing room during the holidays put away. I’m happy to be making progress on some of the projects which were started at the fall retreat. January is a great time to working on your fair entry projects! While the 2019 exhibitors guide isn’t available yet, the 2018 guide is available on our website to assist in project planning.

My sister and I took a road trip to Eagle River this morning and visited both the fabrics stores there. As you are probably aware, Eagle River suffered a lot of damage during the November earthquake. Twisted Sister’s Quilty Pleasures said they were closed for a week but are back in full swing and have even opened up a new classroom (3 doors down from their store). Quilt Cache stated that business has been markedly down after the earthquake and they thank everyone who has come in to shop recently. Both of these stores usually give AK Sewlutions members retreat discounts, so please mention the guild when you shop local so they know we are coming in to support their store. I walked out of both stores a bit lighter in the wallet and my shopping bag a bit heavier!

Spring Retreat signup should be launching in February and I hope to see many of you there. New prices are listed further in the newsletter to assist with your budgeting.

Happy Sewing,
Julie Gleason

Thanks to everyone who joined the belated 2018 Holiday Party & Annual Chapter Meeting!
